I am a graphic designer, artist, and art teacher, compelled to use my skills to help the planet. I plan to create one design each day for 2022. These designs are for sale on organic and sustainable products to help spread awareness of our growing plastic pollution problem by reminding us that we can choose less single-use plastic.

About "NEW YORK BYOB" Design #30: On March 1 of 2020 The State of New York introduced a plastic bag ban. This design is in honor of New York for making this big, important step. I chose to use the Statue of Liberty as we try to break"free" from so much single-use plastic.

Here is more information found on the DECNY.Gov website to learn more about the bag ban.

"On March 1, 2020, a new bag waste reduction law took effect in New York State - where over 23 billion plastic bags are typically used each year. Plastic bag usage affects both our communities and environment. Plastic bags can be seen stuck in trees, as litter in our neighborhoods, and floating in our waterways. From the significant recycling and disposal issues they pose to the harm they can do to wildlife, the negative impacts of plastic bags are easily seen."

A great way to show your support for this project and the movement of Less Single-Use Plastic is by purchasing stickers to help promote the practice of using less single-use plastic.

We don't need to be perfect, but when we "STOP & THINK" we do better. Small changes in our daily habits, like bringing our water bottle, shopping with reusable bags, or purchasing products with less single-use plastic, we can create positive change.

I designed these stickers to remind you of your positive intention to choose less. They will keep the concept on your mind as you move through your day.

Catch the wave and Ride it forward by spreading the Less Single-Use Plastic message with a sticker! Carry the message with you by placing a small sticker on your water bottle. Stick one on your laptop to inspire other students or co-workers. They are weather-resistant so get one for your car, for your skateboard, for your bike helmet, for your skis . . .
