RESOURCES & REFILL SHOPS

This site is meant to get you excited about taking the steps in your life to use less plastic. My intention is to get people talking. If you happen to see someone with a water bottle that says " Less Single-Use Plastic" or someone wearing a T-shirt or Hoodie with the message or someone carrying a tote bag with one of the designs, it might spur a conversation, and this will be an opportunity to encourage others in your circles to choose Less Single-Use Plastic.

Catch the wave and ride it forward. In other words, let's keep this conversation going, and the movement growing.

A big thank you goes out to all of the organizations that are working to help the plastic problem. Here are some links to learn more about the damaging effects of single-use plastic.

Here are some links to refill shops where you can buy your everyday items with less plastic waste:

As I have been working to gather this list I feel so encouraged to see many new businesses popping up everywhere. Bravo to the brave and entrepreneurial business owners who have felt compelled to take matters into their own hands by creating these Refill Shops to make it easier for us all to choose Less Single-Use Plastic. Each shop on this list is a small and independent business trying to do good. Please support them by choosing to refill. Many of these shops are mobile which adds another convenience factor. If you know of a business that should be listed here please make a suggestion on the contact page.

Manufacturers and makers of products that reduce single-use plastic:

Jessica is my niece and she tries to choose natural products. She kindly shared with me a list of tried and true products that help her. I have outlined them here and I will continue to grow this list with some of my favorites. If you have a product that you would like to see added, please email me info@lesssingleuseplastic.com.

Jessica's List of Plastic Alternatives: here are some things I use in place of plastic:

  • Silicone/Stainless straws (Brands: Ello, Flathead )
  • Glass/Bamboo/Stainless food containers (Brands: California Basics)
  • Silicone "saran wrap". Fits over bowls and things like half of avocado or lemon. (Brand: True Nature)
  • Glass and stainless water bottles (Brands: Life Factory, Healthy Human, Ello)
  • Silicone reusable ziplock bags for snacks (brands: Full Circle, Stasher)
  • Have you tried Beeswax Wrap? It's a great and pretty way to reduce plastic.

My sister shared this helpful tip with me. I am now sharing with you:

"Roughly 500 million ink cartridges are sold each and every year, sadly over half of them end up in landfills even though they are both refillable and recyclable. That means nearly 350 million ink cartridges are needlessly tossed and end up in our landfills. To do your part refill or recycle your ink cartridges from your home printers as well as your workplace. Normally it is always better to reuse an item instead of recycling, if there is a choice. Reusing an item, like refillable ink cartridges, eliminates manufacturing effects on the environment from the recycling process. However, recycling is still much better than tossing them in the garbage and letting them end up in a landfill.https://www.recyclingcenternear.me/recycle-ink-cartridges-near-me/"
